Cabot plans to buy East Texas assets with Haynesville shale potential for $602.8MM. Concho plans to buy Permian Basin-focused Henry Petroleum for C$565MM. Laredo Petroleum plans to buy assets in the Verden area in Oklahoma from Linn Energy for $185MM.

Petrohawk shares jumped nearly 40% following positive news about its Haynesville potential. Rodman and Renshaw has purchased COSCO for $14.1MM. After a two-month hiatus, Anadarko-operated Independence Hub is coming back online. Penn Virginia's first test well in the East Texas Haynesville shale is expected to produce up to 15MMCF/d.

Deutsche Bank has named UBS' Derek Davies managing director and head of Canadian commodities. Torrent has filed for Chapter 11 protection.

Harvest Natural Resources has named Unocal's G. Michael Morgan VP, business development. American Energy Production has named Joe Christopher it its board. Pascal Management founder and manager partner Michael Peterson has joined the Blast Energy board.
